Question: What important ethics should be considered within translation projects?
Answer: Yes, there are many ethical considerations that translators should keep in mind while working in the industry. Some of these are obvious and others are not and can sometimes not be noticed until a client is lost or angered by an approach to a translation project.The most important ethical consideration to keep in mind is the acceptance of projects for which you do not have the required experience. Always be completely honest with your clients and employers about how much experience you have overall and within specific niches, if you work hard and constantly train yourself and improve your skills you will end up in a great place in the industry...if you cut corners and lie about your experience you will not and will never be a successful translator with a steady flow of clients.
