Question: What degree do you need to be a translator?
Answer: There are actually very few degrees available for translators specifically. That said, it would probably be best to major within your target language that you want to translate into for your college degree. This way you could spend a lot of your studying energy on mastering the language instead of studying subjects you may never use again in real life.
Make sure why earning your language degree that you participate in as many exchange programs as possible if they involve living in the country which speaks your target language. Getting very familiar with the cultures behind your languages is critical to your success as a translator.
